As an advocate, Heather helps children, youth, parents, and individuals with disabilities receive an appropriate education and access to community services and benefits.

Education and Training

Heather has completed over 600 hours of training through, Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA), the Institute of Special Education Advocacy (ISEA), Central Florida Parent Center, Learning Ally, Family Network on Disabilities,  Federation for Children with Special Needs, The Center for Appropriate Dispute Resolution in Special Education, and Wrightslaw. To help her clients keep up-to-date with information impacting their children, Heather participates in ongoing professional development related to special education law and instruction of children with disabilities.

Heather served as a board member of Florida Disability Rights, as the chair of the Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness Council for Disability Rights Florida, as a member of the Florida State Mental Health Planning Council, and as a member of Family Care Council. She is a member of additional organizations supporting the education and rights of students with disabilities, such as the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA), National Association for Professional Special Education Advocates, and Education Law Association.
